We are very fortunate to have a great group of dedicated, passionate instructors here at Bikram Yoga Vancouver. Each of our instructors have completed the Bikram Yoga Teacher Training program and immersed themselves in a 9 week in-depth study of Bikram Yoga with Yoga Masters Bikram and Rajashree Choudhury and their staff of senior teachers.
My first class was in November of 2012. Like many others, I was dragged to class by a friend who was helping me heal after the death of my father less than 8 months earlier. I was physically, emotionally and completely heart broken and was doing anything I could to find some peace in my life.
Bikram saved my life. When I started, I was over 300 lbs. It is such a pleasure to teach Bikram yoga and watch so many people change before your eyes.
Every time I hear someone say you never forget your first Bikram Yoga class I instinctively think back to my first class in 2012. But it wasn't until a class in early 2013 that I knew I had found something truly wonderful.
Aaron started practicing Bikram Yoga in 2010. He was drawn to this type of yoga for the fitness aspect and to prepare for his first marathon. Aaron was able to finish the marathon under his goal of four hours by crossing the line with two seconds to spare.
Danni first fell in love with the hot room in 2003, never imagining that her relationship to the yoga would lead her to the joy of teaching. When she isn't practice or teaching, she spends her time as a freelance sign language interpreter, performance artist, and reveling in the gift of finally living in close proximity to her family.
Like many, Erika was dragged into her first Birkam Yoga class by a friend. From the first class she knew this was something very special. She was hooked.
I was hooked. I saw the amazing life experiences all the teachers where having and I knew I wanted to teach. I went to teacher training in fall 2011 and had one of the best experiences of my life!
It was nothing short of faltering health that brought Willow to her first Bikram Yoga class in 2000. A variety of illness symptoms plagued her daily life and visits to the physician only led to a handful of prescriptions that she was told she could expect to take the rest of her life. This was not acceptable to Willow.
I attended my first Bikram yoga class on September 30th, 2013. I fell in love with the practice right away. Never before had I experienced such a complete improvement in the way my body felt in only 90 minutes. After an initial 40 days of consecutive practice, I felt healthier than ever.
